Catherine Schrand has been at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, since 1994. Her current research interests are related to accounting for risk, and more generally, firms’ risk management practices. Cathy’s dissertation examined the effects of the accounting rules for derivative securities on interest rate risk management. She has a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Prior to entering the doctoral program at the University of Chicago, Cathy was an auditor and audit manager specializing in the financial services industry at KPMG Peat Marwick in Chicago.
